1.) AC/DC (Angus Young)
Because he is just amazing
2.) Zack Wylde when he was with Ozzy, he was the best with ozzy, but BLS is ok i guess.

yeah i suppose your right xDBD i was being pretty rude their. But still, from one musician to another. You know it's bad when someone thinks that Mick Thompson is one of the best guitarist.

Thompson is sort of like Dan Donegan(disturbed) in a sense. He's a sleeper. Donegan had some pretty cool solos to match his rythms on Disturbed's newest and some of them were quite quick and technical.
Mick is a great guitar player. He's not your average run-of-the-mill "i'm a numetal guitar who can only hold down one-chord-rythms." I think he has potential to be a legend, along with Jim Root. They just need to do something like John 5 did (Marilyn Manson most notibly, he's with Zombie now and does his solo work).. he released the most kickass guitar instrumental album with some of the sickest shread earlier. You never would have guessed the Manson guitarist could smoke you even on your best day.
You clearly haven't heard some of Mick's jams. Some of them even show on the new Slipknot. Open up the book and read some text. Don't judge that shit by the cover

In my opinion, the greatest instrumental album ever is Derek Sherinian - Black Utopia.

I can't believe I'm actually defending FleaFlicker, but the thread does say Which rock Band has the best guitarist, not which guitarist is best so most of us here are just rambling on about our fav guitarist.

I am aware it's older, but i'm bored and feel like posting the real bands with better musicians..
Necrophagist - Muhammed Suicmez ( Yea I know his sweeping is constant, but he's seriously got good skills. Plus his riffing speed is crazy.)
Example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA67UNstFWM
Dream Theatre - John Petrucci (Duh =/ )
No one did the best rythmn guitarist
Pig Destroyer - Scott Hull ( undisputed master of the 200 mph riff)
I'm understand it's an old post, but rememeber I LOVE YOU! ;D ok.

If music was a contest none of you would be a judge. Being good just isn't how fast you can play or how technical it is. I don't know about you, but I haven't wrote a song with a better swagger than TNT. If you have, post it up.
But you haven't so you won't. Angus is a great guitar player. Nobody is like him. I judge greatness personally on the ability to hear someone play and be like.. shit, that's him. I definitely think Angus and his brother do it flawlessly. There's never been an AC/DC song where I haven't been "god damn, that's AC/DC."

Like I said yes Anus Young ( hehe ) Is an exellent guitarist and has talent. But can he play some of the things that John Petrucci can play? I doubt he could keep up. Yes Angus wrote some good songs. I'm talking about his overall playing skills.

This isn't really that hard.
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Slash
3. Angus Young
my reason for all 3, they're some of the few who have stayed at the top for the past 10, 20, and 30 years.

If you're talking about chops Rusty Cooley blows John Petrucci out of the water. Satriani and Vai have just as much technical skills too. Dimebag plays much cleaner legato then Petrucci does. Maybe John was off but when I seen DT his legato was choppy as hell.
That does NOT make Rusty or Vai, Satriani or Darrell any better. I guess my appreciation of music is way different than yours.

Personally i'm more of a Mustaine kinda dude if it was lead Metallica, but IMHO Jason Newsted and James Hetfield were the stars of Metallica. Cliff was awesome and all, but personally I think Jason is a way better bass player.
