Which rock ban has the best guitarist???
#41
Rock/Hardrock/Metal Guitarists.

1. The all mighty Jimi Hendrix. (Jimi Hendrix)
- He's maybe not the fastest darn mega guitar dude but hes got the rythem and funk.

2. The second all mighty Jimmy Page (Led zeppelin)
- Well he's creative.

3. The third all mighty Zake Wylde (Black Label Society & Pride And Glory & Ozzy Osbourne)
- Well he's kind of loose with the bands don't you think?
Anyway his solos on the electric guitar aint very hard with a nice amp and two fingers. but his riffs is not hard either but they sound nice.

Overall Best Guitarists
1. Andres Segovia
2. Django Reinhardt
3. Jimi Hendrix
4. Chet Atkins
5. Wes Montgomery
6. T-Bone Walker
7. Charlie Christian
8. B.B. King
9. Robert Johnson
10. Joe Pass

List taken from DigitalDreamDoor.com

Best Bass Guitarists (off topic time).

1. The very black: James Jamerson (Funk Brothers, session man)
- His funky ass can play!

2. The not so black: Les Claypool (Primus)
- Very hillblilly some times but he got some technic going on.

3. The not so black Cliff Lee Burton (Metallica)
- He makes a guitar like crazy ass sound that makes my nippols hard.

4. The very black Bootsy Collins (Funkadelic)
- Say the next line as fast as you can:
Funk funk funk funk funk funk funk!

5. The not very black Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath)
- He offen plays very high on the neck with his right hand witch creates a cool sound with his cool riffs behind Toni iommi's solos.

Eggbeater Abortion Wrote:Like I said yes Anus Young ( hehe ) Is an exellent guitarist and has talent. But can he play some of the things that John Petrucci can play? I doubt he could keep up. Yes Angus wrote some good songs. I'm talking about his overall playing skills.

Whether you are or aren't high, Angus young puts on the best show you'll ever see. He has the legacy and skills John Petrucci will never be remembered for.

John 5, Tom Morello, Hendrix, Page, Aaron North, Robin Finck, etc etc. There's so many good ones out there yet most people only go by their favorite songs or bands like Slipgay. I say listen to freestyle solos just messing around like John 5 chilling on his couch busting out hours of insane skills. This debate has and will go on forever.

Not one person even looked at Sucimez from Necrophagist.. He has some of the best clean sweep picking. Paul from BTBAM has nice picking too.

I've been into Necrophagist before. Yes he is very skilled technically, but it's all dry. It sounds like a machine, and it's not fun for me to listen too. When I hear a solo like Psycho Holiday by Pantera it inspires me to just go kick ass. When I hear a Necrophagist solo, it's more like.. yeah, I need more beers. This is generic.

Just my two cents. I relay way more weight onto emotion rather than technical skill.

I guess the reason i'm into his solo's more is because everything i'm currently working towards on guitar is what he's playing. Yea it is kind of dry, Check out the solo on Only Ash Remains about 3:38. Thats the only solo i've heard him do that wasnt dry.

Hendrix was good but blues style riffs are easy. In my opinion man you gotta give John Petrucci from dream theater some mad props. Their singer kinda sucks but man that guy can jam.

LOL. Yea the singer is shit. John was good back when he had long hair, but I think when he cut his hair he lost all of his Überness.

did i hear someone say trivium? those guys pretty much suck. matt heafy has a good voice in a small part of like light to flies, other than that they are pretentious wanna be suckers. you can feel them skipping the rhythm parts so that they can solo and waste your time showing themselves off. if they were great they would not have to and it would speak for itself. although the band does get a passing grade they are obviously talented. not near so as opeth though. opeth is pretty major, the solo in, shit i can't remember the name, dungeon master or sth is short, sweet, awesome, colorful and to the point.

if you're talking about rock guitar there is only 1 or 2 that can possibly be considered the best. the two who started alllllll the trends and blazed a trail when there was none. randy rhodes and eddie van halen. is there a more quentessential rock song than metal health? good god any of these shit "rock bands" like slipknot or limp bizkit (although wes moreland is very very good) would eat their own feces to write a song like that.

i know you young kids want to have your new heros be the best and all that but you gotta smarten up. eddie van halen is the most talented person to ever pick up a guitar, rock anyways. his riffs are pure and even though pretentious they come across as genuine. the 1984 album lacks in rhythm (good thing alex can keep it goin) but he is playing at his full capacity. not like some of the musical cowards afraid to take chances with their music.

yngwe malmsteen??? that guy is a total poser. eddie van halen can play in jeans and t-shirt while yngwe spends hours getting dressed or whatever he does.

there are many many taltented solo artists but isn't the point of rock to bring people together and to show off while not showing off at the same time?

i know people will disagree with my next two picks but i respect them greatly. billie joe armstrong (green day of course) is very amazing. although he takes on many faces and attitudes when playing, trying to be this, then that, he plays with no pretention and restrains himself from showing off with heavy solos that go nowhere. i see billie joe as more of an actor or stage preformer than guitarist. mark wossname from creed kicks major ass and is probably the best living guitarist as far as rhythm is concerned. i know scott stapp is a total scab ****head retard but that's just hwo the dice got rolled. mark is genuine and complete and does not try to play outside of his range.

i take points away from jimi hendrix because of all the acid. it's a shame really. sobriety should be most important. no cheating. jimi page is obviously a top pick but i see him as more of a maestro that just enjoys playing than someone to be contended with. stevie ray vaughn is a pompus ass, he has lots of talent but watching him is like wathcing a stevie ray vaughn advertisement.

seriusly though it is impossible to say, i would never vote a band with a negative spin about them as being the best. that's personal for me i think it's bullshit to try and be negative and say your'e a badass when it takes 100 TIMES more courage to say what you really feel. imagine someone of those ****ed "rock" metal band singers trying to pull off a song by journey. hahahaah nice try gg owned.

as a final note my favorite (possibly) guitarist is david gilmore from pink floyd or whoever wrote the main rhythm and solo for hotel california. joe walsh? i shoudl know but i don't. the solo on pink floyd's time is comparable to hotel california and both will always (until topped) hold the coveted positions in my top 10 countdown.

oh one more final note, hehe. the who is recorded (fact) as the loudest band ever. and no it is NOT because of the size of the amplifiers. eat that fred durst you stupid ****.

So what if Yngwie Malmsteen takes hours to dress up, his skills with a guitar are still undeniable. I don't think that there is a "best guitarist" in the world, but I think that Yngwie certainly is there at the top.

yes yes, of course you are right. he is very talented but what does it amount to? i'd rather listen to a 10 year old washing machine filled with bee bees instead of laundry powder, and i'm not exaggerating. the quality of his music is a big fat ZEEEROOO.

oh, i'd also like to say that slayer definately has a program going on. those guys have their shit together let there be no doubt. but again i can't understand people who put themselves off as badasses but at the same time smile alot and act like happy go lucky people.

especially that stupid ass papa roach video where everyone is wearing black and has a half goth aspect about them but in the video there's a fat guy making a tongue in cheek look at a drunk girl acting like a slut. DECIDE WHAT YOU ARE YOU FREAKS!

Well, that's just a matter of taste. I think that Yngwie is great, has some amazing classics (Fire and Ice, for example), and I especially like his most? recent album called Unleash the Fury.

Then again, I am a metalhead and may be biased due to that fact.
