Also, for those of you idiots who think we invaded Iraq for oil, you should slap yourself for being such a retard. We invaded Iraq to save the citizens from the destructive govt. there. If we went for oil, how come the gas prices here keep rising despite what would be endless shipments of cheap oil (since we would control it) and how come the Middle east is the 4th biggest distibuter to the US in terms of oil? Well, since the oil arguements for you don't look good, let's consider what we really went there for,m to save the citizens from the government. The "liberation" of those people was a nice cover-up, however the real reason for the interferance was oil. Why do gas prices keep rising? Because U.S. ****ed up. The risk assessment was shit. My brother worked for Jaguar for his summer job (marketing research), and was of course interacting with such issues. What he told me was that what is going on in Iraq right now, is much, much worse than the worst possible case scenario that the U.S. government has assumed. You don't get endless shipments of oil, you get about 10-20% of what was estimated before the invasion.

I actually believe that the country was better off in Saddam's hands. Yes, what the Americans did was all nice, an excellent idea, but there is no way that you can ever win this war, just like Napoleon could never take Spain. Iraq for you is now the same as Palestine for Israel, a fight that they cannot win. If you guys stay in Iraq, you will keep losing soldiers, as you are at the moment, fighting someone else's war, and are not even getting any profits from it. The problem for you is that you are goot at fighting battles, but not guerillas. As you kill 1, 2 more will join the opposition.

No, I don't live in the U.S. (I believe that it says "Tallinn, Estonia" in my profile, lol), but I have lived abroad during significant parts of my life.

In fact, I am in the U.S. at the moment, in Washington D.C. for 2 weeks, going home this weekend.

I have to rewrite my last response, goddamn IE crashed at this accursed hotel.

It's generally fine, it's just that I find the service much, MUCH better in Europe (discluding Northern Europe), and I hate American food, so I am always eating Sushi or such things.

I mean, for ****'s sake. All we get for breakfast in this hotel is some cereals, which I cannot have, as I am lactose intolerant, apart from that, it's all Pain au chocolats, croissants, waffles, cupcakes, such pastry. Personally, I cannot eat sweet stuff in the morning, so I find this unbearable. They ought to provide at least some choice.

Yeah, I am staying in a hotel that only offers suites, I pay 160 dollars per night and I get crap service and crap food. In Europe, you get amazing conditions for such money,

Anyway, I am not happy at all with my hotel, but besides that I have been having a really good time, so there's no point in continuing to bicker about that. Generally, the people that I have encountered have been very nice and really have made me feel at home.

I dislike American food, but fortunately it's so multicultural that I don't have to eat it.

The other nuisance is that you have to be 21 to drink, etc. It really feels like crap, because having lived in Europe, you get used to social drinking at a younger age. For example, I like drinking wine with certain meals, but have to stick to water in the U.S. It wouldn't really make a huge difference, but I am attending a short course with loads of other people, and I cannot hang out with them in the evenings that much, because they are all much older than me, and I don't get let into pubs, etc. On this course, I am 18, but all the other people are in 30s or in late 20s.

If we really went there for the oil and we were taking such a hit economically from it then Exxon wouldn't have made a record amount of profit last year and Bush wouldn't have called for an investigation into the oil companies accusing some of them of being war profiteers.

As far as the country under Saddam's control you had hundreds being murdered constantly and often by Saddam's own hand. Now they have at least some kind of protection against that and when an attack does occur instead people fleeing only to be shot in the back there are people there to counter that fire. Not to mention the police force is finally getting some training and discipline, though they are still very corrupt.

Our soldiers are not manipulated. People say they fight now because they're in the military and the military tosses them one sided facts to make them think what they're doing is right. Well, we've been there long enough now to where everyone there has had enough time to no re-up if they wanted out and most people there joined AFTER the war started, not to mention there are plenty of volunteer police officers and fire fighters out there lending a hand. They're fighting for what they believe in...any idiot can follow orders, yes, but any idiot can tell a wrong order from a right one too. And if you think Saddam wasn't a threat to the US you are wrong, he was a threat to any living creature on the planet, especially if he was given a chance to launch the Sarin gas they found.

first of all that's written horribly.

Secondly, you listed one example and claimed we had corrupt government. One thing isn't going to make us the worst government in the world. We have a ton of countries beat, but every government has it's problems. The only perfect government is a true democracy, 100% democracy. But since that can't work our government is one of the best in the world. It beats every government in Africa and almost every in Asia, many of Europes, and all of South americas. That's not to say without flaw or that we're number one, which we aren't, but thats how our government is compared to others. We're better than many and beaten by few, but because somethings not perfect doesn't mean hate it.

The only thing I hate about America is people like War and how they think they're always right with their left-wing thoughts of how corrupt our government is. If you don't like it, the government has told you already that you should, and it is your responsibility to change it.
