People starving in Africa
#21
Z3ro, shut up. You've surpassed the point of this thread completely. It's about if a simple answer COULD ever fix the problem, or do more good than currently, or if we went that direction a bit more could it help more instead of teaching somewhat useless ideals for them at this moment in time. By the way, peoples is not a word, people is the plural of people. You wouldn't say deers would you...? Guess you would.

America hasn't 'lived' as long as Europe in the technology stance. I'm sure there were a lot more resources over here when more people started arriving [not talking about Indians or Vikings or whomever was here before us in case Z3ro wants to argue more].

I don't care if America first started introducing their ways to people in Africa, nor do I care if they have asked for it. I'm sure after some help they are asking for lots and I'm sure we're doing a lot of good, but it's been years now and still same issues. Such a small percentage seem to be living better and there's such a small chance of any of them coming to America or getting started in civilized areas in Europe [I.E. finding a job, getting a house blah blah] I said at the beginning on this thread the answer wouldn't be this easy but I felt like saying it because I personally believe it may do them good to teach them other things, like maintaining good health in their area without much technology, basics and get them to get themselves either at least living well or create their own resources from their own land... if any are available.

They are actively fighting over resorces. They are aware they need good land and water...it is the fighting that is hindering.I have seen many Africans work harder and longer than Americans.
These people are not stupid. The terrain alone is against them..poor roads and hard travel.
When Rome conquered the known world..it first established roads to move its troops and supplies.
In all its major cities it created systems to ensure clean drinking water. This is why they were succesfull.

The point of this thread is so small...I must have had trouble finding it is all. MY point, is that America can't currently do enough for itself to be doing things for all other countries. This is what the U.N. is partly for, as well as the E.U., and the comming up A.U.

I guess your fake cell phone thread had much better point to it. Maybe we should just close this right...? I'm not saying anyone should be doing more to help, I'm saying perhaps try different tactics.

Different tactics will have to include reforming their own corrupt countries.
I think you are ALL losing sight of a simple fact.
Africa is a continent...a BIG place...broken down into COUNTRIES...that all have their own laws and systems.

When this problem gets simple...someone get back to me with an answer.

There's a reason why that thread is in the "Jokes and Pokes" section. Maybe we should move this thread there as well?

As far as tactics....you can't help people that don't first want to help themselves...or are, in otherwords, lazy, or may become expectant or overly dependant on such help.

LOL ok Math did not get the metaphore .....he is saying by that...teach them self reliance...not to ask for help.

It is a classic way of phrasing a situation, and not meant as a literal solution.

It only takes common sense to be able to fend for yourself. Granted common sense isn't so common...but handing everything out solves nothing...people just come to be expectant.

Yes common sense is no longer common..yes people should fend for themselves. No they do not expect handouts and help each other.

Circumstances sometimes require those that have...to help those that don't .We have many places offering help in this country...as a CNTINENT...they have no such access.

Even here I donate clothes to shelters and food to shelters. We DO help our own.

Ok, but in that continent you have things called countires...and in countries you have governments/rulers. Their countries problems are in sense, their problems. Helping others when you can't even help yourself is moot, and accomplishes nothing.

I thought I clearly stated some of the country governments were corrupt 0.0...let me re-itterate...some of the officials are corrupt ...*when this shocks you I will point and laugh at your ass*

Now then...many of these people have to WALK across miles and sometimes borders for help. It is not quite as simple as you all make it out to be.

If you have a solution??? Enthrall me with your accumen...enlighten me with your brillialnce...prepose a solution? Otherwise you are only spouting rhetoric and sniffing your noses.

What is it with people stating the obvious? Most countries governments are corrupt? Well **** me, that never occured to me. When you stop being so blatently obvious about the obvious, I'll be shocked. >.>

The solution is there, and yes, it is easy, depending on the circumstances: Work, steal, kill, or die/be killed. What someone decides to do is their dececion. Of course, in America, it's 'sit on welfare', which apparently seems to be doing a lot of freeloaders some good.
