It was either enter a world war or go into yet another economic slump. The economy was slipping again because alot of the public works projects had been completed or were chalk full with workers. Add in the fact that other countries like England were starting to bad mouth us for not helping in the war effort when really there just was no support from the american people to enter WWII until the attack on Pearl Harbor. So we were loosing all around until then.

This may sound cruel but ignoring the warnings about Pearl Harbor attack was probably the best decision ever made. I mean look what it did. It one brought us into war which meant alot more jobs would be created. Two after WWII was over we went into the Cold War which made the American goverment spend more money on the military which in turn created jobs that were funded by the goverment to come up with new weapons faster than the Russians. Three it saved face for America in the international eye and solidified its place as a true world power.

Since nobody (not even Congress) would listen to him for the first three years of his second term, he couldn't get ANYTHING accomplished. So even if he did want to do something about it, chances are he wasn't able to.

As for Bush, there was no communication failure, he deliberately ignored it. I remember Bush's first year in office. His numbers were slipping. People didn't think he was a great president. So Osama's attack on 9/11 was the perfect thing Bush needed to gain support. The problem is, he's running out of war excuses to boost his popularity. He still doesn't do shit in office, just like his pre-9/11 days.

Good point... actuallly, if you really think about it, Bush didn't do shit to help 9/11 anyway. He just sat around and made speeches. Give me one incident when he actually helped survivors or families. And now he's butchering Social Security. Three trillion dollars of deficit AND COUNTING!

Beyond the fact that America has HAD a huge debt, only ever seems to come under scrutiny just before or after an election, scine the civil war and the US goverment absorbed all state debts ya its alot of money. Just keep in mind though that the US goverment also has that much out on loan alone to other countries and they have 20 trillion in assests as backing.

On the issue of butchering social security its not entirely his fault. A plan has already been broached that would not only prviatize(SP?) social security but also greatly increase the returns Gen X and later would see. Its called the Ryan Sununu bill that got shot down by the Congressional Budget Office. No not vetoed or spoken against by Bush but shot down by the CBO. Now the propsed plan is to increase the SS tax immensly and HOPE that works, which it won't. So if the Ryan bill doesnt start gaining steam we better all start saving money now because we're going to plum screwed come 65.

Moving on to your first point, I work backwards sorry, I'd like to see documented proof of all times you went out and helped clear debris, load up bodies, put out fires, vaccum up soot and any other myriad of things. Can you? If not then hush about Bush. Do you really think secret service was going to let him leave a fortified base in the hours, days even weeks following 9/11? No. That would be the most absurd thing ever and I would have scorned the hell out the secrete service if they had even considered it, and should have to if it happened.

Now stop getting your panties all in bunch for no reason and try reading the paper, Forbes, watching the news and generally keeping up with the world around you before you go bellowing crap all over the place like its Gods truth. All of you half informed zealots out there need shit down shut up and twiddle your thumbs cause you've got three more wonderful years of Bushism and unless you can convince a senate jury to impeach him he's not going anywhere no matter how unpopular his war efforts may become or how horribly he may devestate social security. So shut up or move to canada and become a socialist.

BTW did you forget that all goverment personal in the twin towers their families were given full death benifits along with 1-2million, which I believe went untaxed too. Sure its a small price for a human life but the goverment did something did they not?

OK, I find a number of your messages offensive, uninformed, and just downright stupid.

In Point #1, I couldn't understand, and neither could anyone else. It's not a matter of being too complicated, but your sentence structure was terrifying. And, aside from that, I believe that you tried to point out that America already had debt. Well, I'm afraid that you are terribly mistaken. Bill Clinton pushed up taxes and reduced spending, in an effort to eliminate the ENTIRE federal defecit. Needless to say, it worked. Next term, in comes Curious George. He rolls back taxes EXPONENTIALLY, TRIPLES government spending, and, did I hear that correctly, starts THREE horribly expensive wars. And you can't say that they were justified, because 90% of all casualties in that war were CIVILIANS. That means that for every ONE American troop that died fighting for ANOTHER country, there are NINE Iraqi civilians in their death beds.

In Point #2, I DID help out in the 9/11 catastrophe, in fact I lost my father. Yes, that's correct, my dad DIED in the September 11 attack on America. And if we got 1 - 2 milllion dollars, then I didn't see anything. Actually, all we got was a postcard from The Bush family, and guess what? It wasn't even signed. Just stamped. And the only documented proof I have of me helping out is my father's DEATH CERTIFICATE! So don't go pushing your wet little nose into something that you know NOTHING about!

In Point #3, Do you need Social Security? Do you know what it feels like to have your mother checking the f*****g mailbox every god d**n minute, just so she can get out and shop for groceries? Do you know what it feels like to have your mother searching for a job, every day, and coming home empty handed? Do you know what it feels like to have your mother drive your bus twice a week? Well, if you don't, then shut the hell up!

So you ignore everything that proves you wrong and concetrate on what proves you right. GOOD JOB! Next time argue everything and not what suits you.

BTW sorry about your dad.

Beyond that I'm dumbfounded that after your father dies due to terrorists in the middle east the only thing you want to do is cry and complain that war is expensive and a few civilians die here and there. That just pisses me off. Your a disgrace! Have you no sense of honor? Where's your pride? You honor your fathers death by whinning and complaining about how your political party lost the election. Bah! Go whine somewhere else cause its falling on deaf ears here.

So you helped by your fathers death huh? Well I cant even count on all my fingers and toes how many friends I've seen off to Iraq and how many of my fathers military friends went off to Iraq and never came back. So you can take your one family death and shove it straight up your *** cause as long as you can only b!tch about the cost of war I feel very little sorrow for the hardship your enduring.

Side note: If I had it my way we would all be ice skating on the sand dunes of the middle east in radiation suits right now.

[Edit: I find your lack of patriotism(SP?) disgusting and insulting.]

You have officially crossed the line. You are now offensive. Those comments you have just made about my father are too strong. All I can say is that I hope you go through what I have been going through for the past four years. I am not the disgrace. You are the disgrace. You have... demoralized our family in the time of our lives when we are struggling to get the GROCERIES every single week. We struggle through our Social Security check. You, my friend, are the disgrace. You're a heartless FANATIC that doesn't seem to be able to get the BIGGER picture. Sometimes, Sinner, I'm afraid people go too far. And you have done just that. You're comments have definitely struck home. And that's not a good thing.

I see you didn't comment on the "One to two million dollars" that I supposedly received. And the only reason I haven't commented on anything else is because they either make no sense, are completely false, or have been nullified by my corrections.

Maybe now you can pick yourself up off the floor wipe away the tears and realize that by being against Bush your insulting the memory of your father.

If you were willing to stand up and fight back against the people who killed your father my heart would bleed for your family, hell I'd send you money or food or both, but when you started whinning that "wars to expensive" and almost blatenly stated your against it because of that...my sympathy meter just plummeted.

I explained to you the social security plans that have been brought up and how the only one that would work and save social security for me and my future family, and yours, was defeated by the CBO. But apparently you skipped that and thought that I was just against social security in general because I support Bush.

I'm not heartless but I'm not a giant bleeding heart for everyone to come breath sympathy from.

Remember you brought up personal issues not me. I wanted to stick to Bush but you saw fit to bring up family and friends so I took you on. You must of thought your the only one with something to cry about that I was just some brat who lost nothing because of 9/11. Well I'm sorry but your not the only one whose lost close friends and/or family to this war. If you want to start ripping open hearts lets go because I've got alot of fresh wounds on my heart that are alot newer than 4yrs old and I would be happy to start bleeding for you. *sighs* In all honesty though I would rather not I'd like for them to continue to heal.

I'm sure I'll loose alot of respect on this forum for these posts but thats all good.

Good day to you sir *bows*

If anything I have gained repect for you Sinner, I have never see any one actually stick to thier gun's when some one start's pulling the sob story.
I to have also lost family on 9/11 and my best friend has gone off to Iraq, I fully support him on it. Claiming that a war is to expesnive is just ignorance, since war usually pull's in alot of revenue for our country and manages to create an advancement boon.

I am truely sorry for your loss if in fact you have lost anything, but I am surprised that you would dishonor your fathers memory by complaining about something so trivial as an election that most people already knew the outcome of, but if your party had won, it would not have brought your daddy back kid.

yes but its obvious that einstein was a man of intelligence. Its also very obvious that bush is NOT a man of inteligence. He's speaks like half the ppl on this site post, you know the ones that everyone b!tch's at cause you can't figure out what they are saying?

Btw, in case you didn't know, i hate bush about as much as nubli. In fact, if charles manson had ran against bush, i would have voted for chucky. At least he can kill ppl efficiently.

... Are you retarded? Are you seriously retarded? How the hell would you see the footage of me? Did they circle the buildings over and over? Did they examine every single corner and crevice of the ruins? Can you recount for seeing every single one of the workers? And how the hell would you recognize me? Leave me alone. Go jack off in the bathrooms. I've heard they got a pretty tempting man-whore.

bush is not a bad president but most people are angry that he is ignoring public opinion against the war and the scandals about his speech. also, he looks even more stupid because he bears a resemblance to apes that the media exploits. i dont like bush but i will never say he is the worst president. that award goes to hoover
