I can't tell you everyone else's reasons for posting how they feel about the subject as I can't speak for anyone but myself. My reason though was because we were asked. A topic was made on the subject, I viewed it, and I responded with my honest opinion. I've seen it happen too many times where somebody jumps into a thread or conversation with their only intention being to state their opinion about how stupid everyone stating their opinions is.

And now I offer a rebuttal. Nobody said we were cooler. Nobody was realy whinning, with one exception. And if our "whinning" upsets you so much perhaps a thread like this is the wrong place to be. And maybe this kind of posting is our "own damn thing."

A caution to forum users...please think before you post. Please read through the topic before you comment. And whatever you do...don't become one of those "I'm above all of you because of my great level of maturity" posters.

You can totally tell 99% of you guys are extremely immature and under the age of 18 with no real experience in life. Emo, just like every other stereotypical cliche, is someone's choice. The musicians who make emo music (which, believe it or not, I don't dislike nor like.. it's really not me) make money with it. Money makes the world go 'round. Kids with less than par homelives find outlets in those lyrics that complain, and many of them really only have material things(such as the internet or music) to turn too. I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with the "Emo" cliche until you screw up with me. I've had my bad taste of "emo" people (especially underage girls.. check: recent thread I made) but I don't hate all "emo" people because of it. I don't talk shit on the internet about them unless it's deserrved either.

Again, the only one whinning was Matt. Nobody was actualy attacking him for it or even saying that the emo people sucked we were expressing our opinions on how we do not enjoy the music and happen to think that the premise behind the culture is kind of stupid. I'm gonna go back to what I said before and again suggest you read through the thread before you post.

Yup, this is very true. Most of the emo kids I've met made that choice to pretend to be depressed. I'm not saying they are all faking it but I can say that atleast in my area the majority of them are. And as for the money, any musician who comes out just to make a boat load of money I would consider fake.

What the hell is a tread? A tread is normally surrounding the wheels of a tank. A Trend is something as you stated, but not necessarily music. Emo people are idiots. Plain and simple. They like music in which the singer sounds like he's holding his nose closed when he sings. Seriously, pinch your nose closed and start talking and you're an emo singer. The people on the instruments have no talent at all, they just do shitty little 3 chord progressions, if even that. And then you have how they dress. You have the guys wearing chick pants and studded belts with gay, thick-framed glasses. They hang out in coffee shops. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT? And when they talk, they're like, "My toe hurts... Life sucks..." It's just pure bullshit, you don't hate life, you're posing to fit in.

Yes, it is obvious. This is a game deticated to a game that mainly people under the age of(generally) 17 play a game. I guess I(we?) are a minority, in the fact that we are actually of age and posting/playing this game. This quote was more of a jab at the general maturity level and failure to accept something other than the norm on most peoples parts. Yes, I agree with that mostly. Many do, stereotypically might I add, choose to be "depressed" and do things like "cut" for attention. Lots do, actually, and I agree 100%. It really is bullshit, but.. some people might think me and my party habits are "bullshit.." Some kids might think my hair is "bullshit" as it's past my shoulders and i'm a dude. Then again, people like me don't give "two shits" so I really can see why emo kids are so angry. I don't really see a single clique get attacked as much as emo, other than gothic. On that note, and in my experiences, gothic and emo USUALLY go hand in hand and the two cliques run together. Generally. Atleast here in Florida.
The musicians, fake or not, are getting laid, getting paid, and having a great time. Some of them, like Ryan from Story of the Year, shread like no tomorrow and own their respective instruments just like Dyna owns useast ladder. Ryan Phillips, in my opinion, could hold his own in a room with Zakk Wylde, the late Dimebag, or even someone like Van Halen. I can thank my ex-girlfriend for this lovely revelation.. I seen them live. With her. Hey, I got laid though, so I guess it evens out, right? I have a thing with posers and fakes too, I personally don't like 99% of emo because of this.. but just because I don't like it i'm not gonna be a di-k about it.

Well, I knew a guy who got his *** beat physically by his stepdad daily. Daily, like a religious experience. The stepdad had been to prison and had been forced to be away from the family, etc. This certain kid couldn't "control" his mother choosing to be with this man. This kid could not "choose" stay with his dad, because his mom had 100% legal custody. This certain "kid" couldn't do anything right, even though he was really doing nothing wrong. He listened to Emo. And, in my humble opinion, the boy had the soul of a man at 12 years old. Yes, some kids put on a show, but many of them REALLY have shitty homelives they can't do anything about. This quote right here is what realy makes me upset with stereotypes. Not ALL emo kids are poser ****s pretending to be depressed. Many are, few aren't.. but the few that aren't make it all too legit for me.

Yes WE are a minority it seems. The only people I can think of off the top of my head that are 18 or older here are myself, you, Fabulous, and Jedi. (I think he is atleast.) Well and Spit but he's not exactly active here so he doesn't count.

I could be more accepting? I criticize music, trends, movies, etc...mostly because I'm bored and it's rather amusing to watch the twelve year olds get their panties in a bunch over something someone said over the internet. Watch as they digitaly yell at you saying they'll kick your *** and so on. It's all for kicks. I'm an accepting person I just have a knack for pointing out anything nagative. People claim to be accepting and sincere but they can't handle another person's opinion if it happens to disagree with their own.

Your friend is one of the few exceptions, one of the few people who are not faking their state of mind.
