Ha. Well being a college student most cs majors use leet to shorten up sentances while talking or exchanging code. well at least at my school they do. If you are decent at leet speak you can make it a form of short hand you know like condensing a 5 line paragraph into 2 lines. thats why some people use it.

I'm surprised that no-one's yet brought up the fact that 99% of people that use leetspeak are total noobs, hence I think that we ought to rename it to something like "noobspeak".

Sometimes, it can be useful though, for example, when You know that someone is going to quit and You don't have enough time to write: "Hey can You wait a little bit please?", so You just shorten it to: "w8 up 2 sec".

People use leetspeak becuase the have no life, only an epiphany flashing before their pitiful, lifeless cow eyes as they obsess over a game or over a computer or over porn all night while their parents arent looking... i weep for these people hoping that one day, they will have a life like some of the people on this site. Be joyful man, be nice, be cool, but most of all dont be an asshole and done use leetspeak. It dgrades you and your personality almost to the point of breaking.

Personally I think Leetspeak is for total ******s. Anyone who uses it should be shot in the head 10 to 20 times. The only reason twelve year olds type like this is to think they are cooler than you. I, actually do not know how to type Leetspeek, and would not like to learn.
