What is your opinion on gay people and gay marriage?

BlindMansTicket Wrote:Who the hell said it's "moral" for a man and a woman to marry? Tradition? A big book of stories? Please. They have about as much authority of something as my left foot does.
well, if this were immoral... you and certainly we would not be here today. lol
and yes, the Bible is a book of stories, i will not deny that fact. however, we believe that this is an "inspired" book of stories. take for example, when they were translating the Hebrew OT to the Koine OT they got together 72 rabbis (plz correct me if im wrong) and asked them to translate it independently. and each translated text was identical to each other. this is the Septuagint. (again correct me if im wrong)

It's not that I'm stating "I don't believe in the bible" it's just me saying there IS NO proof of it being true. As such, it should not be used as basis in an arguement.

It doesn't matter if it's moral, or immoral.

Science doesn't work on "morals".

edit: missed a word.

people are who they are, and no matter what u say, they cant change. the debate against gay people is filled with biggots and religous fanatics condemming a different group of people because they are different and they are afraid of them. i have several gay friends, and they don't bother me, they dont try to openly show they are gay, and they dont go making out in the hallways at school, you wouldn't even know that they were gay, the only way i know is that they told me. GAY PEOPLE DON'T BITE

Do you have a reason, or do you just hate them because you are a tool to society with no self formed opinions?
Either way, You are a bigot.

Being one of the bigger Repulican supporters on this forum I am supposed to talk about how wrong being gay is and how gay marriage would be an insult. Instead I'm going to talk about how two people in love is one of the most beautiful things on this Earth no matter what gender they are. They should be allowed atleast some kind of legaly binging union just like straight people. If you don't want it to be called marriage because of your religion and what an insult it would be to you...fine, it's merely a word. The gay community wants to be able to be united in love for the rest of their lives they want the SYMBOL of marriage not the word. Who would it hurt?

Also, this is a debate based on opinion and morals so to say the Bible has no relevancy is ignorant. If you consider the US was founded on Christian morality and that these people believe in the Bible and use it as a source for their opinion and is therefor just as relevant as the Constitution.

I like the second part. I'm still thinking about first part.

i would agree with the above statement, however, i will not stop them from having their right to marry and other rights.

I think condemning is easy for Christians because they have never been condemned themselves in this mostly-Christian world.

If I were to flat-out say that I thought Christians were idiots because some book of fairy tales told them a big dude in the sky made everything you guys wouldn't even know how to take it, but some of you are totally ready to jump on the bandwagon and say someone they don't even know is immoral or otherwise inhuman because of who they choose to spend the night with.

Of course, I don't think all Christians are idiots. Just a little brainwashed.

Also, trying to push your Bible on non-Christians is a folly. Personally, I don't respect the Bible as a holy artifact or a tool to sway a conversation. The morals are there, but those morals have been around a lot longer than the Bible, so there's nothing new and spectacular there. I couldn't care less if Jesus himself wrote "gayz r bad, lol" on a bathroom stall in New Jersey, I still wouldn't think anything less about homosexuals, because they are still people and they still deserve the same treatment as anyone else.

If you have nothing but the Bible to reference in your argument, it's better you don't post anything at all.

Time to pick out what I can from your argument.

1st paragraph: True
2nd paragraph: Immoral, yes; inhuman, hell, no
3rd paragraph: Brainwashed in what manner?
4th paragraph: I don't push the Bible. And yes as I said in my comment for para. 2 yes gay people are human.
5th paragraph makes me want to think and also think about punching you in the mouth. No particualar reason, it just happens to incite those feelings. You are a good person.

I am perfectly aware that these comments were not directed at me( Lord have I been told I take things WAY too personally, but I digress) but I was just expressing how his comments made me feel.

It doesn't matter how much that is said. The bible is going to be thumped whether you like it or not. I tried to say this, but of course their holy shroud of ignorance kept them closed minded.

So I'm going to try this. THe Holy Book of "The Justin Experience" states on page 1, paragraph 3, "Thy moron shall not use a holy book as a tool for proper debate in any type of disagreement."

There. MY HOLY BOOK says THAT. So YOU Christians need to stop telling me different because of what yours does.

Freedom of religion. Suck it.

I don't have anything against gay people. There cool, and i don't care about gay marriage. It's there way of expressing their love to each other like a boy + girl. So i don't see what's the big deal. There not doing anything wrong so I think people shouldn't care.

i am not a bigot, (ignorant person) i do not sense the reason to love some1 of ur own gender. unless it is a genetic mutation caused by our genes, i don't see why you should change ur love for a man/woman

"their holy shroud of ignorance kept them closed minded." - o...k where is this "holy shroud of ignorance" are you trying to call us "self righteous" becuase that word would be more appropriate. I'm not saying it's true but still, what you said is just embarrassing.

Though I will admit that was quite the spirited, and accurate, description of what is happening. Don't quite agree totally ,but who said I have to.

I'm saying that most expect us too since our party does. I was trying to prove a point that people can generate their own opinions instead of regurgitating someone else's due to their allegiances (Like many Christians do).
