What is your opinion on gay people and gay marriage?

I may not read the Bible overly much but I do know that it says that God dispises homosexuals, because what they do is sexually immoral.

Yet again with the morals. Morals hold no place in an arguement. As everyone forms their own. Going by the book if you don't do what it says you sin.

There are a couple of reasons why people claim God hates homosexuals. Obviously the most visible one is Sodom and Gomorrah. However, the church has twisted that story in a way that seems almost ridiculous, and the sheep readily listen to the church because they won't read the Bible for themselves.

The reason Sodom and Gamorrah is pointed to is because of a reference to their people touching strange flesh. Now, first of all, this reference is mentioned in the Bible as an afterthought. More emphasis from this passage is placed on their claiming to speak the word of God. Also, they had children in Sodom and Gamorrah, so obviously they weren't "gay." And "strange flesh" is exteremely open to interpretation. The Jewish faith generally interpretates it as a reference to beastiality, not homosexuality.

As far as the line about not laying with a man as one would lay with a woman, I consider this to be added by man. Much as I would consider the lines about not eating fish on fridays, or not eating uncured meat, or not wearing articles of clothing that are made from more than one cloth. In this sense, homosexuality is about as sinful as wearing a poly/cotton blend.

Moreover, the passage concerning David and Joseph seems to suggest that not only does God accept homosexuality, but he also blesses it. Recent versions of the Bible have been altered to change this passage to remove the reference, but in older versions it is easily spottable.

A religious friend of mine was telling me that he watched a documentry where they were talking about how the passage was misinterpreted, and the propper interpritation went along the lines of a _MARRIED_ man having sex with another man is a sin, maybe he was wrong, Does anyone know anything more about this?

Serious why does anyone give a **** about the bible, its a 2000 year old book, may as well be a story book for all we know, Personally i believe it was a myth along the lines of santa, "Be good, dont kill or steal, because you get an afterlife also" Personally I dont believe the idea of afterlife, some say that animals dont go to heaven, so why do they think we are special we are 'intelligen'* animals, but we go to heaven just because we are gifted?

I was watching a movie last night (Chopper) I'm not sure how true it is, but he was telling a fable about a boy in italy in the 1500's and how he wasnt allowed to go to church because he was a cripple... We are just the cripples of the 2000 era, not in the way of disadvantaged just not recoignized.... Maybe people that flaunt their sexuality are doing the rest of us a good thing, short term making alot of hate, but long term giving people more of an idea of homosexuality (Think 40 years ago, when homosexuality was unspeakable, now its on fricken Big Brother, QAF, Queer Eye, and about every teeny bopper comedy movie)

But that is what this is about. They won't stay away from you very long with laws allowing gay marriage and so forth, then you will see extrimities in public due to the freedom these laws give them. How will you feel about it when you can barely turn anyway and not see homosexual activity in the public, or in movies?

Being inappropriate has never stopped me from doing many things and will continue to be ignored by myself and many others to come...this is about views on homosexuality not on people expresssing their sexuality/affections in general. So unless it's a gripe directed at the homosexual community leave that point out.

OK Plat, one thing I KINDA disagree with you. We know you're gay, but when you're talking bout gay people, dont use the word "we". Thats doing just what anti-gay people do - SEPERATE. Using the word "we" is just like creating a different group, dividing. I look for equality. Once some homosexual people went from class to class at my school to do some kind of presentation, they told us to use the word "I" when talking about an issue like this.

Dudes, if you seek equality, then you should actually accept it. I would see two gay people making out in public the same way 2 opposite sexes. It doesn't matter what sex you are, just keep doing your thing and be yourself. If you're gay and you want to be equally treated, then ACT like your equal. Don't try to show off that you're gay, or try to spread stuff like that around. Gay people are just the same as any other people, and they should act that way too. I'm saying this because some gay people really try to show off that they are gay. No one is really interested in knowing who is gay and who's not.

About religon, I think the bible has been altered too much to really convey God's true message. My religon says that God created our religon becuase all the other ones kinda got distorted a bit. If you happen to find out my religon, keep it to yourself, I don't show off my religon. I don't know if we can use the bible in this argument, but we can use religon in general in this argument. And hating on religon is just senseless, just like you believe gay people are fine, you cannot hate on the bible. I'm talking about Fragged, he is like against religon seems like it. That would also relate to hiporcrisy. I don't want to see two guys making out, anywhere; nor do I want to see two girls making out, or a guy and a girl making out. Gays want equality, I'm giving them that by stating that I don't want to see such public displays of emotion, whether or not you are gay.

Emotion also includes such things as hate, loath, and aggrivation. These things constitute war, so is war what binds the world together? And most of the "sheep" in this thread seem overly tolerate of homosexuality, so will they not look back and see the things they wasted?
