Cd Drive :/

I Have a cdr/rw/dvdr combo drive and ive tried almost everything but unplugging it and plugging it back it. what im not getting is that it reads dvds but not cds.

Im using windows xp sp2 2002 edition
my computer is a Acer SA80 (got it for xmas 05)
HL-DT-ST-RW/DVD GCC-4522B is the name of my drive

you could have a bad drive? ive had it to where mine couldnt read dvds, but could read everything else. the one i had slowly was destroyed. get a new drive.

and also, dvds are destoned to take over the world, and pwn us all. slowly destroying every cd drive...........

I actually HAVE the same problem, the only thing is that mine isn't reading any disks.
I've been researching on it for a couple of days and heard this can also happen after the downloading of iTunes if you have installed it recently.

it is most likely a bad drive. did you try usng a different one?

i had itunes on my computer for awhile. i reformatted and everything. unplugged it, dusted it i dunno

well what i would suggest is reinstall the driver for the cd-drive.
